I thoroughly recommend Kreate Dental. Inlays & Onlays

Dental inlays and onlays at a glance

Similar to a filling, an inlay fills in a tooth, while an onlay lies over it, helping to build up and re-shape the visible part of the tooth. Inlays and onlays are both designed to help strengthen a tooth, preventing it from fracturing.

This dental treatment at Kreate Dental is a very effective solution when the repair to the tooth required is too extensive for a filling but not enough to warrant a full crown. Similar to a filling, an inlay fills in a tooth, while an onlay lies over it, helping to build up and re-shape the visible part of the tooth.

Treating damage and decay with an inlay or an onlay can help to save the remaining healthy tooth structure, helping you avoid more extensive – and expensive – dental treatment. Inlays and onlays can be made from porcelain, composite resin or gold, all of which are durable and long-lasting.

The treatment process

1. Consult - Your dentist at Kreate Dental will carry out a full assessment of your dental needs, answer your questions and help decide if inlays or onlays are a suitable treatment for you.

2. Prepare - If so, your first appointment for treatment will involve your dentist removing any damage or decay to your tooth, before cleaning and shaping it, to enable an impression to be taken and sent to the lab, for a bespoke dental inlay or onlay to be made.

3. Fix - You’ll return for your second appointment when your inlay or onlay is ready. Your dentist will clean the tooth again, before securely fixing your new inlay or onlay into place using a strong dental cement. Your dentist will make sure you can comfortably bite, and smile, before you leave our Rugby practice.

Looking after your new smile

Dental inlays and onlays are durable and long-lasting, but to really get the most out of them it’s important to maintain the best possible oral health, with regular dental check ups and dental hygiene appointments. Your Kreate Dental team here in Rugby can then make sure the treated tooth and the rest of your mouth stays as healthy and clean as possible.
